What the UPSC Prelims question matrix is
The question matrix is a normalized table of every available GS Paper I PYQ in the Statstrive inference pack. Each row carries year, question number, subject bucket, concept label, micro-topic, question type, option pattern, source category, source status, static-current type, difficulty, cognitive demand, trap category, recurrence cluster and priority score.
It turns PYQs from a pile of papers into a searchable preparation database.
Important fields in the matrix
The most useful fields for daily study are subject, micro-topic, question type, trap category and priority band. The most useful fields for deeper analysis are recurrence cluster, years appeared, gap since previous appearance and source status.

Source status, difficulty and priority score
Source status tells you whether exact mapping is strong or still needs work. Difficulty tells you whether the question demands recall, conceptual clarity, elimination, map awareness or source familiarity. Priority score tells you whether the micro-topic deserves stronger revision.
Use all three together. A high-priority topic with source gaps may need official-source tracking. A difficult trap-heavy topic may need table-based revision. A low-priority one-off may only need one careful note.
